Ponsford’s New Record. —Ponsford has created another cricket record by’ being the first Australian to score over 2,000 runs in a season. His total was 2,008.
The Petrol Tax. —Mr. McKenzie, chairman of the Highway's Board, stated at Wellington to-day that he did not, as reported on Thursday", imply that the petrol tax was impending. All he did was to express his personal opinion in favour of a petrol tax.
Horse Owners Buy Colts. —Mr. J. Lowe, of New Zealand, has purchased Australian Sun, a Tranacre colt, for 100 guineas. Mr. A. McDonald has acquired Flying King, a Gamian Flirt colt, for 250 guineas.—A. and N.Z.
Defendant Remanded. —Leon Lucian Buisson, 47, was granted a remand till Friday in the court this morning 6n a charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor-car on Nelson Street Wharf.
Methodist Camp.—The Auckland district Methodists held their annual yearly camp on Pine Island during the Easter holidays. There were about 300 men present. An advance guard went ahead to prepare tents, supplies, etc. The camp broke up on Easter Monday night after an enjoyable holiday.
