The concluding stages of .the North Auckland tennis championship tournament at Whangarei were reached yesterday but a number of finals are still to be decided. Charters and Miss Stevens now meet McKay and Mrs. Scott Watson in the final. Handicap Men’s Singles. —T. Colthart defeated Chalmers, 9—7; Entwistle defeated Colthart. 6—2, 6—5. Ladies’ Handicap Singles.— (a) Miss at- defeated Miss Kitchings, 9—4, , ls f K. McLean now meets the winner the match between Misses Matheson and Stevens in the final. Ladies* Singles.— (b) Mrs. Finlayson defeated Miss Smaile, 9—6; Miss Bowman defeated Mrs. Blanchfield, 9—5. In the nnal Miss Bowman defeated Mrs. Finlayson, 6—4, 6—4. Men's Doubles. —Chalmers and Enj*e defeated Smith and Finch, 9—2; stedman and Stedman defeated Merrington and Hots on, 9—4. In the final Stedman and Stedman defeated Chalmers and Entwistle, 5—6, 6—3, 6—3. This match provided high-class tennis and evoked rounds of applause. Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses Matheson and Stevens defeated Mesdames McKay and Marshall, 9—5: Mesdames Grant and Lins defeated Misses Herrick and Foster, In the final Misses Matheson and otevens defeated Mesdames Grant and Ellis, 9 7
