WHAT TO DO
AVOIDING RUST ON CLOTHES Rust on clothes or towels is sure to collect if one does not attend to the iron hooks placed in various vantage spots about the house. To ensure that you won’t be one of the unfortunates here is a plan: Paint all iron hooks in the pantry, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry and there will be no rust spots on clothes, towels, or surf gowns. The hooks may be dipped in white enamel paint and allowed to dry thoroughly before being put up, instead of painting slowly with a brush later. THE FIREPLACE A change from the usual fireplace treatment. Here is a small open fireplace, with no overmantel stretching monotonously across the chimney wall. Just a little bracket for a clock or to-bacco-bowl, with three electric candles above- Note the clever way in which
the French window has been let in to harmonise with the panelling and the new note in curtain hanging. The novel motif on each panel, reminiscent of the Parisian decorator, should blend with the colouring of the room, of course.
