Westmere Park Estate
Delightful Building Sites Just What You Want Bounded on the north an 3 south by the upper reaches of the Waitemata Harbour, on the east by a tidal river, and with an entrance from the west, the Westmere Park Estate is a spot that will soon become one of the mo st favoured residential sites in Auckland. It is within easy re ach of the city and offers unlimited possibilities to the person wishing to live on the water’s edge and yet retain that “inland” aspect around his home.
The Westmere Park Estate is situated to the west of Herne Bay, Ponsonby, in the progressive district if Richmond and is reached via West End Road, Herne Bay, over roads that ;ive no cause for complaint. There ire 31 acres in all, subdivided into sec:ions averaging 45ft. frontages. Since offered first in October, 1926, and until the present time over 60 sections lave been sold. Entering on to the estate from the West End Road, one is confronted with the glorious panorama of the upper reaches of the Waitemata stretching from Birkenhead to as far is the eye can see in the direction of Pine Island. Then to the east the surrounding country takes in Mount Albert, Mount Eden, Point Chevalier ind other districts. The road construction which has inly been in progress since January if this year,, is making rapid strides :owards completion. In several instances the roads have been finished ind give an excellent idea of what the completed work will resemble. Elec:ric light, gas and water will be laid in and there will be every convenience :hat will bring the estate into line with :he most progressive of any in Auckand. Another fact that is pleasing :o a prospective purchaser is that the sections are so laid out that the steps
(the housewife’s burden) can be eliminated on almost any house built there At the northern point of the estate is the Park Reserve, a portion that has been acquired by the / Auckland City Council for use as a beauty spot overlooking the water. This reserve extends the length of the whole water frontage of Westmere Park and adjoining Westmere Extended Estates, and embraces a hard sandy beach making an ideal playground for the children. The locality is well sheltered, yet it receives the sun throughout the day. At the eastern end of the estate a road reserve, one chain wide, has been left clear, and handed to the City Council for the purpose of running a road through from West End Road to Point Chevalier, thus throwing open a new outlet to get the Point people into the city in half the time now spent. This is another feature which sometime may enhance the value and prosperity of the estate. From whichever vantage point one stands on the estate the panorama is equally attractive, and all will have equal facilities of access to the beach and live in delightful surroundings in a location that must become a popular suburb of Auckland. There are not many sections left on the estate and it will be the wise ones who get in at once.
