WOOL VALUES
SATISFACTORY POSITION PRICES AND DEMAND INCREASE (From Our Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Statistics of the Wellington wool sales for the season show that the clip sold here realised 12$d a lb., representing little less than increase on the previous season. Of the 105,927 bales offered- at five sales 103,311 bales were sold and 2,616 lots passed in, these later going at advanced rates. At later sales throughout the season the price improved steadily. The average price was £lB 5s a bale, and at the March sale the average was £lB 18s BAd. The Wellington sales handle about 12 per cent, of the Dominion’s wool production, and the Woolbrokers’ Association here considers the season just ended is indicative of a firm market and the steadily decreasing “carryover” shows how keen was the demand. It also shows that growers are ready to meet the market and are generally satisfied with the prices offered.
