DAIRY CONTROL
* LABOUR’S VIEWPOINT RELIEF FOR FARMERS Press Association NAPIER, Monday. The views of the Labour Party in relation to the subject of dairy produce control are set out in the annual report of the national executive, presented to the New Zealand Conference of the party in Napier to-day. The report states that the situation can only be saved by closer co-ordina-tion with the co-operative distributing organisations in Great Britain. The alternative is a continuance of the present system under which the price at which the farmer can sell his product is left to the machinations of able and skilful manipulators whose sphere is neither production nor distribution, but who live on scheming out the most effective means of exploiting the needs of both the producer and the consumer. “Our Parliamentary party is of the opinion that relief is urgently needed
if the struggling dairy far ll *?*’®* I *# be enabled to function,' contin report. . & “If the Dairy Board ref .^ se ® ji c low speculators to dictate its P. to be influenced by an , fgc Minister then it can go an . # confidence. The objective board is to get the produce consumer with the least possiD in transmission. If the prese ernment will not help, duty, in co-operation with tne Labour Party, to find ways a. whereby the produce of Ney $e pastures can reach the British people in good conai at a price which will ensure a able return to the producer exploiting the consumer.” l
