TRACTOR OVERTURNS AND KILLS LAD
A FLOCK HOUSE BOY Press Association NAPIER, Monday. A Flock House boy, aged about 18 years, George W. Pickering, employed ty Mr. W. J- Wood, on his farm at Homewood. Waipawa, was killed early this afternoon. He was engaged In the absence of Jiis employer in top-dressing some hilly country, and was hauling a drill with a tractor. The latter apparently got out of control going down a hill, which it descended at an increasing pace until it turned over when nearing the bottom. A Waipawa boy, E. Maher, witnessed the accident and telephoned to Waipawa for assistance, stating that the tractor was lying with Pickering underneath it. Assistance was speedily given, but nothing could be done, for the deceased bad been killed initantly.
The boy had been working for some time for Mr. Wood, who thought highly of him. He had made quite a large number of friends in Waipawa. He had no relatives in the Dominion.
