THE HOUSEWIVES* GUIDE Fish arc plentiful, but the demand has dropped now that Holy Week is over. Terekehi can be bought at 4d lb., while fresh schnapper is selling at 6d lb. and smoked at 10d lb. Flounder and John Dory are plentiful at 1s lb. Rabbits are Is 10d a pair. Fresh hen eggs are scarce and are marked at 3s sd, but duck eggs are plentiful at 3s 2d dozen. American oranges are the only variety available and are very dear at 3s to 4s doz. The Tofua arrived this morning with a large supply of bananas and these should be cheap during the next few days. Vegetables of all kinds are in good supply and are cheap at the auction marts. Good Te Kauwhata grapes are a little dearer and are selling from 10d to 1s 6d retail.
