SPORTSMEN ENJOY AN ACTIVE EASTER

HEAVY CATALOGUE There has been a heavy catalogue of sporting attractions for Aucklanders this Easter. Of cardinal importance were the races at Ellerslie, where the course was thronged both to-day and on Saturday by immense crowds. Further attention was devoted to the university tournament, which produced cricket, tennis, rowing* boxing and athletic performances of a high order. In addition there have been the Easter bowling tournament and the Auckland golf championship at Middlemore. Both these were continued in glorious weather to-day, while the Tamaki Yacht Club’s annual regatta, and the Northcote-Birkenhead tennis tournament, were other fixtures which began this morning and were followed with close attention.
