WORK FOR WALBY

EX-SOLDIER’S “SPORTING OFFER!” Harold Walby, ex-imperial soldier, and survivor of last night’s harbour tragedy, made what he termed a sporting offer toTHESUN as he lay in No. 1 ward at Auckland Hospital this morning. “Yes, you can take my photograph,” said the little Yorkshireman, “if you can get me a job!” For weeks Walby, a skilled mechanic, has been out of work. He is willing to take anything suitable that will offer. He has had experience as a storeman and as a liftman. THE SUN will be pleased to hear—ring 45-820—from anyone who can give Walby work. A.ucklanders, remember that this man left a leg at Passchendaele. All he has to live on is his small British Army pension.
