THANKS FOR CONSTABLE
“Guilty, sir, and thank you for the constable,” said John Mclntosh, one of the dozen week-end drunks who faced the Bench at the Police Court this morning. The Magistrate looked puzzled. “He means he wants to thank the constable for locking him up,” Senior-Sergeant Edwards explained. “Oh,” said Mr. Hunt, “5s or 24 hours.”
