N.Z. LABOUR PARTY
CONFERENCE OF WOMEN Press Association NAPIER, Saturday. The first national conference of women members of the New Zealand Labour Party was opened at Napier yesterday, Mrs. Snow, of Wellington, presiding. Mrs. Stewart, Wellington, read a long and interesting paper on “Co-oper-ative Trading,” through which she said the needs of the family could be supplied under the democratic control of the people themselves, instead of by a system of capitalism. A resolution was passed calling for amendments to the Child Welfare Act, which was said to place too much power in the hands of those in charge of its administration.
