A MEAN THEFT

SETTLER’S MAIL STOLEN GOODS ALSO REMOVED The settlers of Waipuna, Franklin County, are considerably annoyed and perturbed about the theft of a mailbag. It was taken from a galvanised iron shed used as a delivery place by the settlers. A bag of flour was also taken and a cwt. of sugar was sprinkled round the place. It is not thought that any valuables were in the bag, which was left by the man who delivers the rural mail in this district. Most of the homesteads of Waipuna are some distance from the road, and it is difficult for the farmers and their wives to watch the delivery sheds and receptacles. The Mercer police are making inquiries.
