Town Planning. —lt has been decided by the Hamilton Borougli Council to have a complete map of tlu borough prepared under the conditions of the Town Planning Act.
Billiards. —Inman is playing, 4,668; his best breaks being 459, 337 and 225. Reece is 3,887; his best breaks were 299 and 133.
A Sea Tragedy. —A Halifax message states that the search was abandoned on Wednesday for the 12 men missing since the schooner Commonwealth sank, after catching fire on Friday morning.—A. and N.Z.
Australia's Population. —The Commonwealth Statistician’s figures show that the population on December 33 last was 6,110,514, an increase of 118,430 during the year. New South Wales, with 2,347,781, is the most populous State.—A. and N.Z.
Fighting Tuberculosis. —With the object of combating tuberculosis the New South Wales estate Cabinet has decided to create a new department, and a board will be set up under the direction of Dr. Beret Main.—A. and N.Z.
Expense Not Warranted. The Hamilton Boorugli Council has dTecided that owing to the fact -that the town water supply could be made perfectly satisfactory the council is not prepared to enter into any Provisional Water Board scheme.
Ambulance Competitions.—Arrangements are well in hand for the St. John Ambulance Brigade competitions, which will be held in the Domain on Easter Saturday. Teams are arriving from every, part of tlie’ Dominion to compete. Should the weather not permit, the competitions will be held in the . Drill Hall, Rutland Street.
Licensing Busses. —At the last meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council the Watson Bus Company gave notice of its intention to appeal against the decision of the council, sitting as a licensing authority, to grant licenses to various bus proprietors to ply for hire upon certain routes within the town limits.
Death of Dr. C. F. Strange. —Advice has been received in Auckland of the death of Dr. Charles Frederick Strange at his residence, Hampstead, England, on March 4, aged 49 years. Dr. Strange, was the third son of Mrs. Strange, Amy Street, Ellerslie, ahd the late Mr. J. R. Strange, of Te Aroha and Green Lane. Mrs. .Johnson Clark, Ellerslie, is a sister, and his two brothers are Messrs. J. R. Strange, Mount Albert, and G. H. Strange, Green Lane.
