DODGING DEATH
man on railway line nearly run down arrested on spiral (From Our Own Correspondent.) NATIONAL PARK. Thursday, carouel Jones spent the early hours ."this morning dodging death in or ihnut the tunnels of the Raurimu * _al. The driver of a south-bound Train reported at 1.30 a.m. to the vational Park station officials that a jjian was nearly run down on the fcl seen again at G. 30 a.m. by the driver of another train at the entJLnce to the tunnel at Raurimu. The police were informed, and a _ an giving the name of Samuel Jones, was arrested on the Spiral. He was enable to give a satisfactory account of his movements. It is believed that he had been recently discharged from mental hospital. He had in his possession a ticket from Thorndon to Auckland. * Apparently ho did not leave any train at the National Park and must have Jumped off as the train was descending the Spiral.
