CRICKET SEASON ENDS

SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION UNITED SUBURBS WIN Excepting for the University matches which were commenced yesterday, the final games of the Senior A grade cricket under the control of the Auckland Suburban Association took place at the Domain yesterday and finished up the cricket season in Auckland for this year. A closely-contested and interesting match was the United Suburbs—Glen Eden game. After last matches both these teams were equal in points. United Suburbs, last year’s champions, gained the win yesterday, securing a two-point win by a margin of only 10 runs. Although there were no exceptionally high scores put up the batting was at a good standard. Ellerslie was successful in its match against Glen Eden, securing a threepoint win. In the Green Lane-Ponsonby match the latter gained a victory with 191 runs in the first innings. Green Lane replied with 117. TIE IN SENIOR B The senior B grade competition resulted in a tie between Auckland Harbour Board and Ellerslie. This was caused by Harbour Board defeating Railways by one wicket, thus securing a three-point win, sufficient to equal Ellerslie’s total. Victoria won the third grade championship yesterday by defeating Chelsea in the final. Victoria made 138 and Chelsea 90.
