“I VONT”
The peaceful atmosphere of Anglo-African cricket seems likely to be rudely disturbed by a rumpus over the M.C.C. tour of South Africa, which threatens to end in the law courts. When Lionel Tennyson took the M.C.C. side to South Africa, 'tis said that the expenses were guaranteed by Solly Joel, a wealthy Anglo-African Jew, on behalf of the South African Cricket Association. The tour resulted in a loss of £I,BOO, and the S.A.C.A. has asked Solly to stump up. The essence of Solly’s reply was: “I von’t.” So now they are talking of getting the lawyers on the job.
