SUGAR AND WATER

Sweden has got hold of a young athlete, from whom big things are expected at next year's Olympiad. He is a bank clerk, named Sten Petterson, .who stands about 6ft. 4in. high. His best performances to date are 23 feet for the broad jump, 6ft 2in. in the high jump, 100 metres in 10.65ec., 200 metres in 22sec. and 400'metres in 50sec. Young Petterson has some original ideas about training. He does not believe in massage, but before every important competition he sits with his feet in hot water. While his tootsies are stewing, he drinks off a glass of sugar and water. And Nurmi is said to have spent an hour or two before a big race engaged in prayer. What will they do next!
