Pollution of Streams. —Injury to fish caused by the pollution of streams was mentioned by Mr. C. A. Whitney at the meeting of the Acclimatisation Society last night and he said he intended to ask the council to stop not only the defiling of the water by drainage and by affluents from factories, but also by sawdust and flax-scutch-in gs which got into the fish’s gills. The pollution of English streams, some of which had been absolutely denuded of trout, was attracting a great deal of notice at present.
