Clearer Water Coming.—“l hope that within two months Auckland citizens will be drinking the clearest water it is possible to obtain.” —The Mayor, Mr. Baildon, speaking at Epsom of the City Council’s new filtration scheme. The Social Problems’ Committee lead off with a public meeting on Thursday night in connection with the Annual Conference of the Associated Churches of Christ. The Bible in State schools will be supported by Mr. F. J. Marshall, of Wanganui, secretary of the Social Problems Committee. Mr. R. W. Tuck, M.A., will speak on the menace of the liquor traffic, and Mr. Howard Earle, of Christchurch, will deal with the question of the gambling evil. The general public cordially invited.
