DEVONPORT APPLICATION DEFERRED Until the' time-table of the Devonport Ferry Company’s proposed service to Bayswater is received the Auckland Harbour Board will not consider the application for the service. The question of whether the Devonport Company is to enter into competition with the Takapuna Tram and Ferry Company or not will be decided at the board's meeting on April 26. Formal application was made to. the board yesterday by the company for a permit to initiate its extended service, the company advising that details of the proposed time-table and fares would be submitted at a later date. The chairman, Mr. H. R. Mackenzie moved that, as the comapny had not submitted a time-table, consideration would be deferred until the next meeting of the board, the harbourmaster the traffic manager and tire board’s solicitor to submit reports in the meantime, Mr. Campbell Johnston: Is there any objection to granting this company a permit? The Chairman: We cannot tell until we get the time-table. Mr. C. G. Macindoe said he took It that when the subject came before the board again discussion could be taken in committee. The chairman replied that the board could go into committee If it wished to do so. Mr. J. B. Johnston: I take it that the board will have to be guided by its solicitor. The Chairman: I think so.
