THEFT CHARGES
ELECTRIC CABLE MISSING YOUTH ARRESTED “Can I have a word with you at all?” asked John Siddons, a lad of 17, leaning towards the Bench from the dock in the Police Court this morning. Mr. Hunt intimated that he could not. Siddons and two other boys of 18— Joseph Ratcliffe and Athol Da> ton—were arrested this morning on a charge of stealing 50 yards of electric cable worth £lO, belonging to the Power Board, and were remanded to April 20. "I understand Siddons is at present on probation.” observed Senior-Ser-geant Edwards. “Oh, is he,” said Mr. Hunt. “The other two can have bail —£50 each.” “Won't you give me bail at all?” was Siddon’s plaintive plea. “No, you are on probation,” said the Magistrate, and that was that.
