NATIONAL AND LYRIC

SOMETHING WORTH SEEING Easter is upon us and, realising this fact, the management of the National and Lyric Theatres opened last night

with programmes that are going to provide unlimited interest and entertainment to their many patrons. To mention circus is to at once attract the young and old and in “Bigger Than Barnum’s,” the star feature, there is provided in this rattling good drama of the saw-

dust ring a story that is certainly going to attract. Viola Dana, Ralph Lewis and George O’Hara combine with an excellent cast to lift this drama out of the ordinary. The story of a “quitter” who makes good in a manner as startling as it is thrilling, will be sufficient inducement for everyone to visit these theatres By way of contrast there is also screened “The Poor Sap,” a truly delightful drama possessing just that vein of humour to make it a gem among pictures. Ben Ayou, as the amateur detective, and Pauline Stark as “the crook who really isn’t,” are mostly in the limelight, but good supports make this a most interesting and cleverly constituted picture. A topical news containing matters of interest to everyone is also shown. Clancy’s Dogs, a collection of canines possessing remarkable intelligence, provide a delightful interlude. Composed of fox terriers and pomeranians, this troupe perform most difficult feats with ease and are well worth seeing. The orchestras at both theatres render delightful musical programmes and are fully deesrving of mention. The entertainment is one that will surely make a big impression over Easter and for variety of entertainment a visit to these theatres will amply fill the bill.
