THE SESSIONS PROGRAMME A comprehensive course of lectures has been arranged for the coming session of the Auckland centre of the Workers’ Educational Association. The programme embodies lectures on all topics including such subjects as Astronomy, Botany, Psychology, Musical Appreciation, Literature, Modern Drama, International Relations, etc. Several competent lecturers are on the schedule and the lecturers in the city will commence in the Old Grammar School, Symonds Street, on April 21. MOUNT EDEN This is the first report from the Mount Eden School Committee since the division of the school district, and therefore refers to the Valley Road > School only. The accounts for the year show a credit balance of £sl 13s 3d, and the excess of assets over liabilities amounts to £36 7s Id. The cricket team has had a most successful season and is still undefeated with one game to play Although no championships have been won at football much good work has been done, and the games have been thoroughly enjoyed. Swimming has been efficiently taught during the season. There are 135 contributions to the school savings bank, with the large sum of £136 to their credit. The school and district have suffered a severe loss in the retirement of the headmaster, Mr. F. H. Brown, during whose administration the school has maintained its high standard of efficiency.

Mr. A. Douglas, of Nelson, has been appointed successor to Mr. Brown. The Education Board has been approached with a view to the replacement of the dilapidated buildings now serving as a school, but as the Mount Eden School is third on the list for replacement, the order being Richmond Road, Parnell, and Mount Eden, there is no immediate prospect of a new school. A considerable amount of work has been done towards improving the playing area, and also in repairing the walls surrounding the grounds, for which the sum of £96 9s 8d has been spent.
