MEETING OF COUNCIL '(From Our Oxen correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The Waipa County Council held its monthly meeting on Monday. Cr. C. S. Macky (chairman) presided. Also present: Crs. J. T. Johnson, A. H. Storey, G. S. Clarke, W. McGee, R. G. Speake, J. S. Fisher, E. F. Peacocke, A. Livingstone, S. Saulbrey, T. Church and N. Reid. Mr. C. H. Cox, Te R%hu Road, wrote re a culvert on Bond’s Road, which was too small.—Referred -to Cr. Storey and the engineer. The chief surveyor, Auckland, wrote forwarding duplicate tracings of a road to be closed through section 3, block 3, Wharepapa survey district, for the consent of the council.—Approved. The chairman of the Main Highways’ Board wrote re charges for county plant when being used for maintenance on main highways. Referring to traction engines, he stated that if a council wished to use a traction engine and grader costing £ 5 per day including crew, on work which can be jList as effectively done by a power grader at a cost of £3 per day, then the board directed that the subsidy payable to the coLinty be computed on the basis of £ 3 per day.—Received.
