PERSONAL. —Capt. W. H. D. Gardner has relieved Capt. G. A. Grey as master of the Wainui. Capt. Grey left Auckland yesterday for Wellington for orders.
Mr. T. Beardshaw has joined the Waiotahi as chief officer.
Mr. R. Mudie, chief engineer of the Waiotahi, has left the vessel.
THE NORTHUMBERLAND.— The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Northumberland undocks on April 20 and commences loading at Auckland for Home. She afterwards loads at Southern ports and clears Wellington about May 20 for London.
HOMEWARD BOUND.— -The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have been notified by cablegram that the Palceha left Montevideo on Thursday for London, via Teneriffe, en route from Wanganui. The vessel sailed from Wanganui on March 18. WAIUKU FOR WAIHEKE.— The Northern Company advises that owing to the school holidays being extended the steamer Waiuku will now make an extra trip to Waiheke by leaving Auckland on Wednesday, April 20. On her return here she lays up. KIA ORA’S MOVEMENTS.— At present loading at Oamaru, the Shaw. Savill and Albion steamer Kia Ora leaves to-night for Bluff, Wellington and Auckland to complete. She 'is due here on April 24 and sails finally from this port on April 27 for London, via New York and Halifax. Messrs. A. S. Paterson and Company are the local agents. HO RATI US TO LOAD.— The steamer Horatius, which is loading under the auspices of Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, leaves Wellington to-night for Gisborne and Auckland to fill up L. D. Nathan and Company, who are the local agents, expect the vessel to arrive here on April 20, and hope to dispatch her finally from Auckland on April 23 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.
ARGYLLSHIRE COMPLETING.— Now completing her loading at Wellington, the New Zealand Shipping Company hope to dispatch the steamer Argyllshire on April 20 for London, via Panama.
CITY OF WINCHESTER HOME.— Advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill Company that the City of Winchester, which left Bluff on February 18, arrived at London on Saturday morning. , CROSSKEYS RADIOS.— Radio advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the American steamer Crosskeys is due at Auckland at 5 p.m. to-morrow from Los Angeles. From Auckland the vessel proceeds to Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Melbourne. PACIFIC COAST SAILING. —CabIe advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the American steamer West Nivaria leaves Los Angeles on May 14 for Auckland. Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth, in place of the West Calera, \Vhich now leaves Los Angeles on May 21 for Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney. TUG WITH LOGS.— The Parker Lamb Timber Company’s tug Akaroa, Capt. Johnson, arrived from Mokau yesterday with a large raft of logs. Through being delayed by adverse weather and submerged logs in the raft, she was compelled to seek shelter in Whangarei for over a week. She left Auckland again this morning for to pick up another raft of logs and is due back to-morrow, weather permitting.
THE ULIMAROA. — The HuddartParker steamer Ulimaroa reached Sydney fr.om Wellington at half-past eight yesterday morning. Owing to the Easter holidays the vessel is running a day ahead of schedule. She is to leave Sydney on Thursday and is due at Auckland next Monday.
OUTWARD BOUND.— After replenishing her oil fuel at Curacao, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mataroa is reported to have sailed last Saturday in continuation of her voyage from London and Southampton to Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland on April 30.
QUEEN ELEANOR. —Running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Eastern Canadian service, the steamer Queen Eleanor reached Colon on Saturday en route from Louisberg and St. John to Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin, Melbourne and Sydney. She is expected at this port about May 7.
MARAMA ARRIVES. The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Marama arrived at Auckland this morning from Sydney. Leaving the Australian port on Friday last the vessel made a good passage, although a strong southerly wind was A fairly heavy sea w r as rolling in from %he south, but otherwise the weather was fine.
