CITY ELECTIONS

FURTHER NOMINATIONS THREE FOR MAYORALTY There was a rush of nominations for the local elections this morning, the papers including those of three candidates for the mayoralty. Last year two candidates withdrew their nominations, and any wishing to do so this year must comply with a new provision in the Act, which makes seven days’ notice necessary, instead of the three days previously sufficient. Nominations to-day were: M ayoralty J. A. Warnock, nominated by Dr. Hilda Northcroft, Robert A. Laidlaw, Robert Burns, Isabella Benfell and H. Goldie. Thomas Bloodworth, nominated by the Hon. George Fowlds, John W. Mitchell, William R. Tuck and R. S. Mackay. Harold Schmidt, nominated by G. Wakelin, W. G. Wilson, R. Tidball, W. Nodder and J. L. Aikman. City Council. M. J. Bennett, R. F. Barter, J. B. Paterson, B. Clewes, H. J. Sutherland, W. E. Sill, F. W. Schramm, A. Thompson,, Mrs. Harold Schmidt, George Brownlee, G. Knight, S. Turkington, J. Dempsey.

Hospital Board Mrs. Ethel Annie Kidd, A. Eccles, G. Knight, J. Dempsey, Mrs. Ivy McCready and W. Wallace. Harbour Board T. Bloodworth and Oscar Mcßrine. Mr. Eady to Stand Mr. L. A. Eady announced some time ago that he would not be offering his services again as a city councillor, but he was prevailed upon, by a deputation this morning, to reconsider his decision, and he will now be a candidate, and will be added to the Citizens’ Progressive Committee’s ticket, bringing the ticket to the full strength of 21. The deputation included Messrs G. Creagh, G. M. Fowlds, H. E. Vaile, A. G. Lunn and Didsbury. Mr. Eady explained that his previous decision was clue to increasing business responsibilities, but he felt that he could not refuse the request of such a representative deputation. Another Ticket The Citizens’ Committee has put forward the following ticket for the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board: Messrs. J. Dempsey, S. Takle, W. A. Thompson, W. Wallace and Mrs. Ethel A. Kidd.
