Summer Time in England.—Summer time in England began at 2 a.m. yesterday and will continue till October 2. — A. and N.Z. ✓ Admiralty Commissioner. —Vice-Ad-miral Sir Michael Hodges has been appointed Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty and chief of the naval personnel, in succession to Vice-Admiral *ir Hubert Brand. The appointment is to date from August 15 next. A Great Success. —It was reported the other day that 15.000 citizens visited the New Zealand Preference League's industrial exhibition on the civic square. That number represented an afternoon attendance. The successful exhibition actually attracted 150,000 people. Woolwich Arsenal Fires. —Another fire occurred at the Woolwich Arsenal °n Saturday. The gates were padlocked immediately the fire brigade had entered. The authorities refuse any information, but it is understood that the fire started in some grass on a roadway.—A. and N.Z.
School Committee.—The monthly meeting of the Otorohanga School Committee was held on Thursday, there were present: Mr. A.
1 losey, chairman: Mrs. H. M. Quin; Messrs H. Atkinson. W. Babe, Bawyer, McLeod. A. T. Cullum and Rev. Mr. kedgley. The present roll number in Jne primary department is 233, and in the secondary department 41.
