Suburban Cricket. —The cricket match. Papatoetoe v. Ponsonby. was continued on Saturday and resulted in a win for Papatoetoe by seven wlckefs and five runs.

Governor-General Reads Lesson.— At a great service of the Freemasons of Canterbury in the Anglican Cathedral at Christchurch, the GovernorGeneral. Sir Charles Fergusson. as" Grand Master of the' New Zealand Lodge, read the first lesson, verses 12 to 28 of the 28th chapter of Job.
Otahuhu Telephones. —Owing to the large increase of telephone subscribers at Otahuhu. it has been necessary to install a more modern switchboard in the exchange. The new board was switched over on Saturday in five minutes, without any inconvenience to the subscribers. There are now 208 subscribers on the Otahuhu exchange.
No Stock Allowed. —ln conversation with the chairman of the Papatoetoe Town Boat'd, a SUN representative was informed that the town board authorities intended to enforce their by-law keeping slock off the Great South Road, in the near future, as it is the intention to tar and shell the recently-formed footpaths in that part of the district.
Charge of Stealing Tin. —Arthur Frederick Griffin, aged 54. was remanded this morning until April 2 7 on a charge of stealing five ingots oC tin. valued at £lO 10s. the property of Alexander Harvey and Sons. ChiefDetective Cummings said that it was understood that Griffin had been in trouble in another State.
New Dental Clinic. —The seventh dental clinic that has been erected in the Auckland Education district y\as opened at the Grey Lynn School on Saturday by the mayor, Mr. G. Baildon. who said that the householders of the district had given £BO. Other speakers referred to the worth of dental clinics, and offered their congratulations to the Education Board for the enterprise it was showing in this important matter.
Outbreak of Fire. —Disturbed whilst engaged in business at their annual general meeting on Saturday evening, members of the Oneliunga Fire Brigade received a call to an outbreak in some store-sheds in a right-of-way off Lower Queen Street, in the occupation of Messrs. Dale and Sons, grocers. An unusually large muster of inen, three officers and fifteen men, responded and with a good water pressure on two leads an effectual quick stop was made, but not before much material, in the way of house furnishings, had been destroyed.
