DIXIELAND RE-OPENS

WONDERFUL DECORATIONS Only a fortnight! and yet during that time Auckland’s premier dancing cabaret. Dixieland, has undergone a vvonaerrui transformation. Tne cnanges which were most noticeable on » lay night when the cabaret reopened for the winter season were the futuristic design of decorations and the enlargement of the dancing floor. The decorations, which were carried out under the personal direction of Mr. Loveridge, the manager, are both arresting and pleasing to the eye. There is an artistic blending of colours which though futuristic are mellow in combination. The contrast of the soft electric lights, toned to a beautiful sunset tint by salmon-coloured shades, and the paintings on the walls add to the beauty and charm of the ballroom. In the centre of the wall at the back of the orchestra is a painting representing sunset as seen through leadlight windows, and when the lights were dimmed and the spotlight turned on, the result was wonderful. The realistic effect of this innovation was commented on by the exceptionally large number of patrons present. The floor, which has been doubled in size, is “the last word.” All the wood that has been used has been carefully selected and baked to give it the necessary spring. “Isn’t it ripping?” said one fair patron, when asked what she thought of it, and she undoubtedly expressed the opinion of every one there. The management, in opening the cabaret for the winter season, have gone thoroughly into all phases of their patrons’ requirements, with the result that everything that could be done to complete comfort has been done. From the time the pat-

rons enter its welcoming portals till the time that they depart, tliey will find the staff ready to oblige, whether it be a case of changing a cubicle, serving some coffee, or even procuring a packet of cigarettes. The Dixieland famous orchestra. The Internationals, still continue to supply all the latest dance music in the most attractive style.
