Conditions on the water were breezy, and on the outside course a brisk jobble was occasionally encountered, j The win of the limit men. McQueen and Edwards, was popular, and the racing all through produced remarkably close finishes. Results were: Keegan and G. Barker (25 seconds) beat Lowe and Impey (7), by a. canvas. McQueen and Edwards (SOsecs) beat Beesley and Wheateroft (SOsecs), by three-quarters of a length. Johnston and Brooker (scr.) beat L. Barker and W. Jones (.SOsecs) by three feet. Fearon and Stephenson (Tsecs) beat Cullen and Hunt (SOsecs) by a length. Doubleday and D. Smith (scr.) beat Gladding and Lawrence (35secs) by a length. Wilson and Simmonds (355) beat Mickay and V. Smith (7s) by a canvas. Shore and Buttermore (30s) beat Cairns and Bryand (20s) by three lengths. SECOND ROUND Johnston and Brooker (scr.) beat Fearon and Stevenson (7s) by 2ft. Shore and Butterworth (30s) "beat Keegan and G. Barker (255), by half a length. McQueen and Edwards (50s) beat Wilson and Simmonds (355) by three lengths. SEMI-FINAL > Johnston and Brooker (scr - ) beat Doubleday and V. Smith (scr) by one length. McQueen and Edwards (50s) beat Shore and Bufterworth (30s) bv one length. FINAL McQueen and Edwards (50s) beat Johnston and Brooker (scr) by three lengths.

MASON CUP WIN FOR ST. GEORGE’S The Mason Cup, the non-class fouroar trophy, contested annually by the Auckland rowing clubs, was won during the week-end by St. George’s Rowing Club. The race produced a stirring contest, in which St. George’s held command over the closing stages. The course was from Orakei to Judge’s Bay. and Waitemata, North Shore, Auckland. West End and St. George’s were the starters. The five crews got away together in a great start, and Waitemata was the first to get its bows in front. With half the distance covered St. George’s challenged, and took the lead. Meanwhile Auckland moved up to second place, while the other three boats fought desperately for position. St. George’s finally won by a length, with Auckland second and North Shore third, while the unplaced crews were practically

abreast of the leaders in an exceedingly spectacular finish. The judges were Messrs. A. Welson and E. Buckler, and the starter was Mr. T. Marshall. The winning crew was as follows: :—K. D. Page (stroke), F. Solomon (3), L. H. Sell raft (2), I>. H. Hume (bow). J. House (cox). AT WANGANUI (From Our Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI. To-day. The rowing season concluded on Saturday in wet weather, when the combined rowing clubs held a series of sprint races from the Union shed. The winning crew of the final sprint fours was:—A. Moss, stroke. R. Stewart, H. Earles and Kemp, bow.
