THEFTS ON RARANGA POLICE SEARCH VESSEL A large number of watches was stolen from a case on board the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Raranga, which arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon. The theft was discovered by the officers on the ship during the voyage. They searched the ship and found several watches concealed near the stokehold. Before the Raranga reached Auckland a wireless message was sent to the police, and when the vessel berthed Detective A. McHugh and Sergeant C. Dunford boarded the vessel. The police officials did not find any more of the missing watches and there are 100 still to be traced. No arrests have been made.
