STREET ACCIDENTS
JURIES TO INVESTIGATE i The Dowager Marchioness of ! Bristol’s fatality in a Hyde Bark motor accident recently, adds interest to the i fact that on May 1 in England all J deaths irom street or transport casualties will be investigated once more ! before a jury, instead of the coroner j summoning a jury only if he thinks fit, as during the past few years. Insurance companies specialising in accident policies are already speculating as to how this return to old practice will work. Coroners, with their wide ex- ! perience, have protected them from merely sympathetic verdicts, which often have resulted in civil damages. I But how the ordinary juror will view * the same kind of accident is troubling j the thoughts of some of them.
