HIS MAJESTY’S

“ABIE’S IRISH ROSE” “Abie's Irish Rose” blooms nightly at His Majesty’s, to be plucked for the bosom of Abie. The ancient Levi expresses his Hebraic disgust at all things not Jewish, in the garb of New York Jewry; the Rose’s Irish father threatens obliteration to the whole Jewish race; the Rabbi and the Irish priest shake hands in religious comradeship, undisturbed by religious difference, and valiantly play the parts of peace-makers, while the Christian wife of a Jew boils hams in the copper for Mr. and Mrs. Cohen to christen as fish. Every night Abie and his Rosemary are three times married, and every night they produce the twins—most extraordinary babies, in that they never cry, despite the noisy war of creed that rages round about them. “Abie’s Irish Rose” is a play to make you laugh—and laughter is the finest of all tonics.
