BLAZE AT TUAKAU
BENZINE IRON THE CAUSE FLAMES CATCH CURTAINS A benzine lamp which flared up was the cause of a house at Tuakau being totally destroyed by fire late yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Thomas McNeice, wife of the occupant of the house, was ironing some clothes with a benzine iron, wheh it flared up suddenly, and set the windown curtains alight. The flames spread quickly, and soon the building was ablaze. The house, a four-roomed one, was old. and it burned quickly. It was the property of the Farmers’ Trading Company. Tuakau, and was valued at £250. The furniture was insured for £2OO in the Australian Provident Assurance i\>mpanv. Ltd.
