LOOKING AHEAD
MINISTERS FLATTERED SEEKING GOOD GRACES (From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The Prime Minister, while listening to a deputation this morning, was glancing over a list of signatories to a large petition when his eye caught the address of the document. “Hullo.” he said, “I see that all the ministers have gone up a bit; they are all Bight Honourables. That is good business. Splendid!” This created laughter. The Hon. K. S. Williams was present with Mr. Coates and be said: “Thanks very much on behalf of other Ministers.” Mr. Girling, member for Wairau, said it was, perhaps, an anticipation, for when the Prime Minister went out and Mr. Williams ascended to the top then would the term “Right Honourable” apply. Mr. Coates: Perhaps so. Rore, the representative of the Maori residents on the deputation, referred to this and said, “We seek the good graces of our guardian Minister, the Right Honourable.”
