RICARDO CORTEZ AND BETTY BRONSON A story, as humorous as the title of the picture, is the chief attraction at the Princess. “The Cat’s Pyjamas” is a well-filmed version of Ernest Vajda’s story, and it has a strong cast, with Betty Bronson and Ricardo Cortez in the leading roles. Sally Winton, a seamstress, has to take care of an invalid father. She has a cat named Tommy, whom she dresses up in pyjamas, and thereby hangs a story. It is through the adventures of her cat that her dream of meeting and winning the love of Cesare Graeco, a temperamental opera tenor, is realised. She takes the cat to the opera house with her to hear Graeco sing, and the cat gets lost. It crosses the path of the tenor, who swears that the cat will lead him to the woman that he must marry. Many amusing scenes occur through the cat leading him to his dancing partner. Eventually he meets Sally, and marries her. and at this stage some real good acting may be seen. The supporting cast is a strong one, featuring Theodore Roberts and Arlette Marchal. The merry troupe of Princess Sunbeam Children, under the able direction of Mrs. O’Leary, continue to delight the audiences with the latest The acrobat of the troupe drew forth thunderous applause by her clever acts. »
