Australian Soldier Dead.—The death is announced of Colonel Robert Owen, commander of the Third Australian Battalion at Gallipoli.—A. and N.Z. . . The Butter Market.—The butter market is reported to be quiet and steady and all prices are unchanged. New Zealand cheese prices run from 75s to 76s.—A. and N.Z. Australian High Commissionership. —Sir Joseph Cook, High Commissioner for Australia, has been instructed to remain in office until his successor. Sir Granville Ryrie. arrives in London.— A. and N.Z. Oratia Lighting.—The district traffic manager, Auckland Railways, Mr. J. G. Rickerby, received a deputation yesterday from the residents of Oratia, who requested that the lighting of the railway station be improved. It was stated that as the present lights were out quite frequently, access to the station at night was difficult. Mr. Rickerby will investigate the situation. Takapuna Election.—Mr. G. H. Collins having withdrawn his candidature for municipal honours, Mr. J. Collins has agreed to fill the vacancy in the United Borough Party. Engineer Resigns.—At to-day’s meeting of the Tauranga County Council, Mr. R. L. Pearless tendered his resignation as county engineer, which was accepted with regret.
