VARSITY TOURNAMENT

OUTLINE Of PROGRAMME At a meeting of the Court of Convocation held last evening, Mr. N. A. Leonard, a member of the organising committee, gave an outline of the programme of the New Zealand University tournament which is to be held in Auckland at Easter. Mr. Leonard said that in the “billeting” appeal only about half of the 120 Southern visitors expected had so far had accommodation arranged for them. The special train conveying the Southern University representatives will arrive at Auckland on Good Friday. On Saturday morning tennis championships at Stanley Street are to commence and during that evening boxing contests will take place in the Town Hall, with a dance in the College Hall to follow. The principal attraction of the whole tournament will eventuate on Easter Monday, when the sports on the Domain will take place. Tuesday has been set aside for the finishing up of the tennis games. The tournament ball will take place in the Scots Hall in the evening. On the following day all the visitors will return home by train.
