Lord Birkenhead, who has never been seen without a big cigar, was entertained at a lunch by London cigar manufacturers, who said that if it was not for men like Lord Birkenhead the cigar trade would be in a deplorable state. Between puffs at a king of cigars, weighing twothirds of an ounce, which was presented to him, Lord Birkenhead said that cigarette and pipe sirftTkers were men of crude and gross palates.—Sun.
