THE CENSOR’S TASK A PROUD RECORD Press Association WELLINGTON. To-day. Mr. William Jolliffe, the Government film censor, has now spent ten and ahalf years in continuous service, and has a proud record. There is no record of anyone anywhere else in the world having persevered with the job so long. For the year ended March 31 the pictures numbered 2,751, an increase of 800 on the previous year. Mr. Jolliffe witnesses daily about three miles of film. British films since August last year numbered only 356, against 1,978 American. The average length of British films is 1,200 ft, against 2,000 ft of the American. They are mostly topical and scenic. British dramatic films being unfortunately rare.
