SPORT FOR GIRLS
ATHLETIC CONTEST OTHER SCHEMES At a recent committee meeting of the Auckland Girls’ Athletic Contest at the Y.W.C.A. it was reported that as the result of the sports day held in November a sum of money had been placed in trust as the nucleus of a sports ground 1 fund for girls. In addition to the annual contest day, it was decided to aim at providing a definite athletic winter programme for girls not already associated with organised sport. It is proposed to enter hockey and basketball teams in the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association’s competition, and in addition to form swimming and tramping clubs.
