HEAVY CRANE-LIFT

OLD SHED TRANSPORTED HARBOUR BOARD TASK The Auckland Harbour BoaVd’s SO- - crane had an easy task yesterday when it was called upon to* lift-the old goods shed on the .Devonport Wharf and carry it across the harbour to the Nelson Street. Wharf, where, it ..is to be used by the line fishermen, as a fish-cleaning and. smoking. tlepof* The old shed was erected on the Devonport; Wharf many years ago and was us ; ed for the storage of cargo, but with the introduction of the vehicular ferry service it was no longer needed. Now that the present wharf is to be replaced by a modern concrete structure it became necessary to remove the shed and this task was carried out yesterday. Although the shed is 80 feet long and 20 feet wide and weighs approximately 20 tons it proved an easy lift for the crane. Suspended on t'oLir wire slings the rather ungainlylooking building was carried across the harbour at the end of the crane jib and safely deposited on its new site.
