PERSONAL. —Mr. A. Young, local marine superintendent engineer of the Union Company, leaves by (he Maunganui to-day for Sydney on holidays. Captain G. M. Ruxton arrived in Auckland this morning from Wellington. Mr. L. Whitlock, wireless operator of the Kartigi, has been relieved l y Mr. G. Gould. TOFUA AT SUVA. —The Union Company have been advised by cable that the Island steamer Tofua arrived at Suva at 6 a.m. yesterday from Auckland. RARAWA’S TIME-TABLE. —Advice has been received by the Northern Company that the Rarawa on and after April 12 will leave New Plymouth for Onehunga at 7 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. NIAGARA AT SYDNEY.— CabIe advice received by the Union Company states that the Royal mail steamer Niagara arrived at Sydney at 9.30 turn, this morning. BRINGING HARDWOODS. —The Union Company advises that the cargo steamer Waikawa is expected to leave Bunbury to-morrow for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. FOR NEW YORK. —Loaded with Dominion produce the Canadian Government Line steamer Canadian Prospector is expected to clear Auckland this afternon for New York, Boston and Montreal. QUEEN MAUD. —The New Zealand Shipping Company is in receipt of cabled advice that the Queen Maud, en route from St. John, arrived *at Colon on March 22, and left Panama the same day for New Zealand. The vessel is due at Auckland on April 20. OUTWARD BOUND. —The New Zealand Shipping Company has been notified by cablegram that the Tongariro arrived at Panama from London on March 27, and sailed again on the same date for Suva and New Zealand ports. She is due at Auckland on April 18. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SERVICE.— The Union Company advises that the cargo steamer Kaituna has been fixed to load at Adelaide about the middle of April, completing at Melbourne for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. She will discharge in the order named. BARON ARDROSSAN.— With a cargo of sugar for the Colonial Sugar Company the steamer Baron Ardrossan is due at Auckland to-morrow morning from CLiba, and after pratique has been granted will berth at Chelsea. Messrs. Robert Millar and Company are the agents for the vessel. CARGO FROM NEW YORK.— The C. and D. Line advise that their chartered steamer Arracan is fixed to sail from New York on April 30 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland on June 3. HOMEWARD BOUND.— A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Cambridge arrived at Panama on March 23 from Lyttelton, and sailed again on March 24 for London. The vessel left Lyttelton on March 1. DENHAM REPORTED.— CabIed news has been received by the C. and D. Line that their chartered steamer Denham sailed from Panama on March 5 for New Zealand ports, en route from New York. The vessel is due at Auckland on April 16. LEAVES ST. JOHN.— A cabled message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Queen Eleanor sailed from St. John on March 26 with general cargo to put out at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne and Sydney. The vessel is due at Auckland about May 10. INDIANOLA REPORTS.— According to a radio message received by Messrs. Spedding. Ltd., the master of the steamer Indianola expects the vessel to arrive at Auckland on April 6 from Port Arthur, Texas. After discharge at Auckland the vessel proceeds to Wellington, thence Australia to complete. H I N E MOA’S MOVEMENTS.— Messrs. Spedding, Ltd., advise that the Government steamer Plinemoa was due at Norfolk Island yesterday from Auckland, and leaves to-morrow night for Auckland again, where she is due on Tuesday next. The following day the Hinemoa is scheduled to sail again for Niue Island. ALTERATIONS TO GUNBAR.— On arrival at Auckland on Wednesday from the coast the steamer Gunbar is to have slight alterations and improvements made, consequently her departure for Napier, via bays and Gisborne, has been postponed till April 8. Messrs. Spedding, Ltd., are the agents for the vessel. THE ARGYLLSHIRE.— The New Zealand Shipping Company, local loading agents for the steamer Argyllshire, advise that the vessel arrived at Bluff at noon on Wednesday from Australia t£> commence loading for London. The vessel will subsequently load also at Port Chalmers. Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due to sail finally from Wellington on April 20 for London via Panama.
CANADIAN SERVICE.— The local office of the Canadian Government Line has been advised of the following projected sailings from Montreal for New Zealand ports:—The Canadian Seigneur on May 25 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin, followed by the Canadian Prospector on June 25, the Canadian Challenger on July 25, the Canadian Britisher on August 25, the Canadian - Planter on September 24, the Canadian Seigneur on October 25 and the Canadian Pros- ! pector on November 25. MAUNGANUI'S PASSENGERS.— The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer, Maunganui, leaves at 3 p.m. this afternoon with passengers, mails and cargo for Sydney. The Rarawa is due at Onehunga tomorrow from New Plymouth and leaves or. Monday on the return trip. The Ngatiawa arrives at Onehunga to-morrow from Raglan and Kawhia and sails on the return trip on Monday. CUSTOMS REVENUE INCREASE FOR MARCH Though the customs revenue collected in Auckland in March shows a substantial increase over last year’s figure there is a drop in the revenue for the first three months of 1927 as compared with 1926. The net customs duties during March totalled £221,231, compared with £204,766 in the corresponding month of last year, an increase of £16,465. During the first three months of this year the customs duties collected have totalled £602.322, as against £635,517 during the first three months of last year, a decrease of £33,195. For the financial year ending to-day, the amount of net customs duty received at the Dunedin ' office was £873,513 6s 6d, as compared with £942.542 6s Id for the previous financial year. The amount of beer duty was £232,166 6s 2d, as against £227,211 13s lOd in the previous year.
