GAOL FOR CANVASSER “If men like this a»re permitted to go round houses and commit offences of*,, this nature no person’s child would be safe,” said Senior-Sergeant Edwards' in the Magistrates Court this morning,? when Harold Roy Hector Babb, aged--28, was charged with assaulting a little 5 girl of six. | According to the senior,-Sergeant the accused, who pleaded guilty, was a canvasser and had gone to the child’s home yesterday. On finding that no one else was home he put his arm around the girl and kissed her. “When he was arrested he was found in possession of this card,” said T Mr. Edwards, handing a small card up to the Bench. “It looks harmless enough at first glance, but. . . .” “Oh.” said Mr. Hunt, S.M.. “that show’s the nature of the man,” and he Babb to a month’s imprisonment.
