MOTORISTS PUNISHED
SPEEDERS AND OTHERS MANY OFFENDERS In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday William Fraser Bell was fined £l, with £1 6s costs, Tor driving at a dangerous speed. Similar charges cost Roy L. Pegler £2 9s, Thomas Short £1 19s, and Bernard Leslie Walker £ 211 s. For pillion-riding and failing to produce his licence, Jack Whitten was* fined 15s and 21s costs. Pillion-riding also cost Elwyn Coster 18s, George Hardie 9s 6d, and William Forbes 9s 6d. For negligent driving John Lindsay Nicholas was fined £l, with £1 14s costs. Failure to give way to traffic coming on the right cost Thomas A. Johnston a £2 2s fine, with 10s costs. There had been a collision between cars driven by these two. Eric Nelson Howard was fined £2, with £2 2s costs, for driving negligently; and John C. Waterworth, charged with dangerous driving, was convicted and ordered to pay costs, £3 2s. For falling to obey a traffic, signal, Harry Bayley was fined £l, with £1 9s costs. Failure to pull up behind a stationary tram led to a £2 fine, with £1 costs, so far as Frederick G. Wain was concerned. William N. Hayden, for a similar neglect, was fined £1 with £1 Is costs. Failure to report change of ownership cost Reginald Bruce Shaw £1 Is. For having no front number-plate, Arthur Bernard Adams had to pay 18s. Ambrose Lewis, no lights and an unlicensed car. was fined £1 13s in all; John Stanley Reeves, number not easily distinguishable, £1 3s.
