DISTRICT NEWS ITEMS (From Our Oion Correspondenr.J GBEENHITHE, To-day. The many friends of Mr. H. Newman Watts will be grieved to hear of the death of his wife, who passed away at a private hospital in Auckland. Mrs. Watts had many friends and was universally liked for her kindness, especially at social gatherings where she gave her services as a talented piaziist. A hard up " dance was held at Greenhithe on Saturday night and was well attended. The visiting tennis team from Albany remained, and all spent a most enjoyable evening. The committee, Messrs. Jonkers, Colebrook. Waite, and Miss Leiton, made the most of a good programme. The Upper Harbour Forestry Company is now employing many hands and in a very short time should be showing good results. It would be well worth while for townspeople to take advantage of the ferry services to view the many beautiful spots on the journey to Riverhead. particularly Pine Island and its beautiful grounds The Albany Lawn Tennis Club paid a visit to Greenhithe on Saturday for a match which resulted in a win by one set for the visitors. They were entertained by Mesdames A. Lexton and Irwin with tea and music.
