THIS MORNING’S WORK NOTES AND COMMENTS Several work-outs were registered on JNo. 2 grass this morning, those to perform usefully being Newbury, who left six furlongs behind in 1.20 3-5 Nucleus taking 1.25 1-5 to cover the! same distance, while Corinax and 1 24 ri 8 S 5 (Wh ° were Paired off) took Town Guard and Cawnpore ran. the last four of five furlongs in 52 °-5 both pulling up well. Master Mind and Wonder Star strode bver six furlongs in 1.22 3-5, and Wyoming, who had the worst of th** weight, was running away from Killute over the same distance in 1.20 2-5. A number of others were worked, but nothing in the nature of fast time was accomplished. The Course Proper J. Thorpe paid for the privilege of giving Chaaiour and Lomint a run on the course proper two hurdles out at Ellerslie this morning. The course was soft and as each horse worked alone the times were not fast. Chamour was the first to work and he galloped over seven furlongs in 1.34 3-5, thte last half-mile taking 54 3-5. Lomint compassed a round, taking 2.4 4-5, but as she does not work well on her own the gallop was fair. A Good Beginning Rahepoto was given a schooling lesson this morning over two pony and four of the larger hurdles. The son of Maniapoto gave a good display of clean fencing and should make up for past disappointments on the flat when seen out in hurdle events. Jumped Padly When sent over four hurdles this morning, Tall Timber did not impress, for lie balked at one and rapped two of the others hard. Riding Engagement E.
