IMPROVED STREETS

WORK AT TE AWAMUTU (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The work undertaken by the Te Awamutu Borough Council by means of its streets construction loan of £40,000 is nearing completion, and quite a transformation has been effected in the main and side streets. Only a few short years ago Alexandra Street in summer was a sea of dust and in winter a sea of mud, but now for its whole length through the business area it has been metalled and tar-sealed from kerb to kerb, and presents a most pleasing appearance. The street is a permanent testimonial to the far-sighted roading policy of the present borough council and its engineers.
