TRANSFERS. —Messrs. S. Johnston, chief officer, J. Beardshaw, second, and J. Blackwood, chief engineer of the Waiotahi have left the vessel, while Mr. R. T. Mudie has joined the vessel as chief engineer. HERTFORD’S PROGRAMME. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Federal steamer Hertford will leave Bluff on Saturday for Picton to commence loading for London and West Coast of Great Britain. The vessel will proceed from Picton to New Plymouth to complete discharge and to continue loading. She will sail from New Plymouth on April 12 for Wanganui, Napier, Lyttelton, Timaru, Port Chalmers and Wellington to fill up. The Hertford is due at Wellington on May 2, and will sail on Monday, April 6, for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, taking cargo also for Manchester. PORT CAROLINE'S MOVEMENTS.— The C. and D. Line advise that the Port Caroline will sail from New Plymouth today for Homeward loading at Wanganui and Wellington. The vessel is due here on April 11, and will sail from this port on April 15 for London, via Monte Video. PIRI AND HUI A.—Mr. C. E. Campbell has received advice that the. Nobel’s auxiliary schooner Piri sailed from Hobart yesterday with a cargo of hardwood for Auckland. She is expected in about twelve days’ time. The auxiliary schooner Huia is en route from Brisbane to Sydney to load explosives for Adelaide. After discharge she will go to Melbourne and load explosives for Queensland.

MELBOURNE SERVICE. —The Union Company advise that the Moeraki cleared Melbourne yesterday afternoon for "Wellington direct. She is due there on Monday, and will leave on Tuesday afternoon for Melbourne, via south. HORATIUS LEAVES TOWNSVILLE. —The Horatius sailed from Townsville at noon on Saturday for New Plymouth. She is due there on Sunday to commence loading: for London. CANADIAN BRITISHER. —The Canadian Britisher is reported to have sailed from Halifax on Monday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dua* edin. She is due at this port about May 7. FROM CANADA.-t-R unning under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Eastern Canadian service the steamer Queen Eleanor is reported to have cleared St. John on Monday for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Melbourne and Sydney. She is due at Auckland about May 9. HOMEWARD BOUND. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamers Mahana and Matatua are reported to have cleared Colon on Monday, en route from New Zealand to London. The Mahana was despatched from Lyttelton on March 3 and the-Matatua from Wellington the following day. NOTICE TO MARINERS. —The Marine Department advises that the enforcement of the regulations for the safe working load of fibre ropes has been postponed from April 1 to June 1. „ OUTWARD BOUND. —The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer .Tongariro is reported to have reached Colon on Monday, en route from London to Suva, Auckland and "Wellington. She is due at Auckland on April 18. FOR SYDNEY. —With passengers, mails and cargo, the Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Maunganui is scheduled to leave Auckland at 3 p.m. to-morrow for Sydney, where she is due on Tuesday. TAINUI REPORTS. —Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have received radio advice from the master of the R.M.S. Tainui advising the vessel’s arrival at Wellington at daybreak on Tuesday next, April 5. The Tainui, from London, left Southampton on February 24 with passengers and mails for disembarkation at Wellington, and cargo for discharge at Wellington and Lyttelton. * PORT DARWIN COMlNG. —Heather Roberton and Company have been advised that the C. and D. line_ steamer Port Darwin leaves Port Kembia on April 11 for Auckland, where she is due on April 16, to commence Homeward loading. THE NORTHUMBERLAND.— The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the repairs to .the Feedral steamer Northumberland in the Calliope Dock are expected to be completed on April 26, after which she will commence loading for Home. The vessel will later load at Tolcomaru Bay, Gisborne, Waikokopu, Napier and Wellington, and sail finally from the last-mentioned port on May 17 for London. GOING HOME. —The steam yacht Surprise, which has been in New Zealand waters for some months, is expected to leave Auckland on April 16 for Honolulu and England. OIL-TAN'KER PLUME.— With a cargo of bulk oil for Auckland, the Vacuum Oil Company’s tanker Plume is expected to arriye here on Sunday morning from the Pacific Coast. She will berth at the Western Wharf. REMEMBRANCE DAY.— New Zealand passengers who travelled Home by the Mooltan on Her last trip will be pleased to know that the sum collected on November 11 for Lord Haig’s appeal on behalf of the British Legion of ex-service men realised £260 10s, and is the largest amount on record collected at sea. A copy of the letter of thanks has been received by Messrs. Russell and Somers from the Legion’s headquarters. H.M.S. DIOMEDE. —The flagship of the New Zealand Squadron of the Royal Navy, H.M.S. Diomede, is leaving this afternoon on a cruise to Fiji and the New Hebrides. TO COMPLETE LOADING.— The ! Canadian Prospector arrived at noon to-day from Napier, and berthed at the King’s Wharf at 12.20 p.m. She completes loading and is expected to sail to-morrow for New York, Boston and Montreal. DELPHIC DELAYED.— The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company report that the Delphic has been delayed in loading- in the Wanganui roadstead owing to heavy seas. The vessel is now not expected at Wellington until Saturday. She will sail from Wellington next Tuesday for London, via Cape Horn.
